Sigma Chi Wins Intramural Football Championship

On Monday, October 15th, 2018, Sigma Chi at Auburn celebrated its first intramural championship in its short history as a colony.

Sigma Chi won the Auburn University Small Fraternity League Flag Football Championship Game by a score of 27-6, avenging their only regular-season loss while doing so.

The men of Sigma Chi made it to the championship game by winning the semi-finals on a dramatic final play. Having to play in a steady rain, the score was tied 6-6. The Sigs had the ball around midfield with one play left in regulation. Overtime looked like a surefire bet.

Then Ross Jones dropped back, scrambled around, and heaved the ball deep for Coleman Kitchens. Kitchens was well-guarded, but the ball was tipped up. Kitchens came down with it and tightroped the sideline into the end zone to send the Sigs to the championship game in what was one of the most dramatic finishes that Auburn Intramural Football has ever seen.

The title game itself was much less dramatic. The Sigs took care of business and played sound, fundamental football for the entire game to take home the title by a score of 27-6.

The play of the game occurred when Coleman Kitchens rolled right and found Will "Gronk" Galvez on the out route for the touchdown.

The Sigs finished the season with an overall record of 6-1. It was a spectacular season for our men. We are proud of our accomplishments, but we plan on having even more success in the future.
